WE ARE ALL BORN UNIQUE but ‘learn’ behaviours from those around us as we grow up (parents, teachers, friends’ etc).
Experiences, whether good or bad, will affect how we live our lives.
Sometimes we have no idea how much these ‘behaviours’ affect us in our personal and work relationships.
Once you have a better understanding of why you feel anxious, angry, fearful etc. You can identify triggers and be in control of your life.
YOU REALLY CAN SET YOURSELF FREE!
Person-Centred Therapy (Client Centred Therapy)
Many factors can affect your ability to move on including – low self-esteem, lack of confidence, fear of change, etc.
The person-centred approach deals with your individual values, beliefs, social environment – and how these impact on your life.
This approach offers you an opportunity to counteract the damaging effects of past relationships and experiences which can then help foster change and enable you to reach your full potential.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT deals with current issues and problems and helps you deal with them in a more positive way.
It is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are all connected. Negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle which can seriously affect your quality of life and prevent you moving on.
CBT helps you crack this cycle by breaking down problems into smaller parts and enabling you to change these negative thought patterns.
CBT gives you practical ways to improve your state of mind and enable you to move on.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
This focuses particularly on the outcome you want in any given situation.
We look at how you need to be – and find a way for you to be that person.
It teaches you to be flexible – more accepting of how you are – and deal differently.
It can be anything from a minor event you have to attend – to a complete change of career.
NLP helps give you the confidence to succeed in what you wish to do.
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)
Solution-Focused-Therapy focuses on building solutions rather than solving problems.
Existing problems and past causes are acknowledged but the emphasis is on your current resources and hopes for the future.
SFBT (SOLUTION FOCUSED BRIEF THERAPY) usually takes only 3-5 sessions but the effects are long lasting.
It enables you to recognise your strengths and resources to overcome the issues that are preventing you from achieving your goals.
Single Session Therapy
This focuses on one issue in one session with the aim of ending the session with options and a different way to deal.
You can have one session only, more if you wish – and can transfer to counselling at any time.
Whilst I have given a brief overview of the types of therapy I use – there is no ‘one type’ per issue.
That is why your therapy is tailored to what is best for you.
In all therapies, issues are dealt with in strict confidence. Please feel free to ask any questions with regard to your counselling at any time.
